As state director, Susan works with the Massachusetts State and District Engagement team to develop and implement strategies designed to further raise the profile of expanded learning time and promote its growth and impact in MA. In addition to supporting ELT initiatives currently underway within Massachusetts’ schools and districts, Susan leads key activities related to NCTL’s policy, advocacy and development strategies across Massachusetts. Susan brings to NCTL over 20 years executive-level consulting, nonprofit and government experience. Most recently, she worked with District Management Council (DMC) as a consultant where she led the planning and turnaround efforts in a failing urban school district. As a former school committee member, she has provided management consulting to school committees in developing effective leadership and governance strategies for implementing strategic goals designed to increase student achievement. From 1998 to 2007, Susan served as the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Alliance on Teen Pregnancy where she focused on policy change, fundraising, advocacy and programming to prevent adolescent pregnancy. Susan graduated from Wheaton College (MA) with a BA in Sociology, and she holds an MSW from Boston University School of Social Work with a concentration in non-profit management.
