Robert Travaglini

Senior Director of School & District Support, Connecticut

Robert Travaglini is the senior director of school and district support in Connecticut for NCTL.

Prior to his current position, Robert was principal of the Naylor/CCSU Leadership Academy in Hartford, Connecticut. For the last 22 years, he has been a resident of Hartford, where he lives with his wife and two daughters in the South End neighborhood. There, Robert has long been active through his work with the South End Neighbor’s Action Project (SNAP), Hartford Areas Rally Together (HART), and his support of local business and community agencies including Naylor, which is his neighborhood school.

When he was hired as Naylor’s principal, in 2003, Robert began restructuring the school based on his knowledge and experience of the community to help support and raise capacity with students, parents, staff, and the neighborhood, with the goal of creating a sustainable learning environment. The Hartford Board of Education has recently recognized Robert for designing and implementing an inclusive school environment that the needs of students with disabilities and of English language learners.

A native of San Francisco, Robert received a bachelor’s degree in music performance and education and a bachelor’s degree in clinical psychology from San Francisco State University and also studied at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music under Barry Jekowski. Robert has also worked with nationally renowned composers such as Dr. Wayne Peterson and Dr. Roger Nixon, including studies in conducting with Dr. Edwin C. Kruth. Along with a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Central Connecticut State University, Robert holds a sixth-year Master’s equivalent in Educational Leadership and an Executive Leadership Diploma from the University of Connecticut. Additionally, Robert has earned Connecticut certifications in Music Education (PK-12), Administration (092), and the 093 for Superintendent.
