Through his work at Massachusetts 2020, David Farbman led the research for the groundbreaking report, Time for a Change: The Promise of Extended-Time Schools for Promoting Student Achievement. David Farbman has been responsible for supervising and promoting research agendas centered around measuring the impact of expanded learning time programming on children's educational and social development and understanding how student achievement and social development can be enhanced through research-driven public policy.

David has served as a policy and research associate with Recruiting New Teachers, Inc., a national nonprofit committed to addressing the teacher shortage. He has also worked as a researcher at Achieve, Inc. and at Jobs for the Future, where he explored the effects of standards-based reform on the educational systems at the state and district levels. He has also served as an advisor on educational and other policy issues for gubernatorial candidates in Massachusetts. A graduate of the public schools of Worcester, Mass., David earned his B.A. from Brandeis University and a Ph.D. in American History from Brown University, writing his dissertation on the culture of high school students in the postwar years.
