Technical Assistance

Tony Caputo - tony@timeandlearning.org

Anthony Caputo has spent his career finding new ways to engage kids in the classroom. He spent 40 years as a principal, first as a principal in the Gates Lane Pre-K to 8 School in Worcester, MA and then 17 years as the principal at the Jacob Hiatt Magnet School in Worcester, MA. In 2000, the Hiatt School was designated a Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education.

As principal of the Hiatt School, he worked with the school community to redesign the school day and add 25% more time. With that time, the Hiatt strengthened academics, particularly in English/Language Arts, added enrichment classes, and gave teachers more common planning time. Tony retired from the Hiatt School in June 2006, though he remains very active in the school and provides ongoing support and technical assistance to the Hiatt and other Expanded Learning Time Schools.

Tony has his B.A. and Masters from Worcester State College.
